
Loftin was cast in the critically acclaimed Monster's Ball,
featured alongside Billy Bob Thornton and Heath Ledger. Her lead performance
in the internationally award-winning short Surface Calm led
the film to garner over 13 awards at film festivals around the world,
including the Grand Jury Prize at the Berkeley Film Festival and RAINDANCE
in London. Surface Calm is now regularly featured on STARZ/Encore!
and the Independent Film Channel (IFC).
Leah has studied and trained with the Moscow Art Theatre (MXAT) in
association with A.R.T. at Harvard University, and she was cast by
Kirill Serebrennikov (Russia's most famed & celebrated theatre
director) in the lead role of Zoya, in the revival of Bulgakov's Zoya's
Apartment. Loftin is also a founding member of EgoPo, the multi-city,
movement-based theatre company.
Performing on the stages of New York, Houston, Austin, and Philadelphia,
Leah has appeared in over 20 productions in New Orleans, garnering
many acting awards and nominations, including the National Irene Ryan
Award for Acting, the New Orleans' Marquee Award for Best Actress,
the Storer Boone Award for Best Actress in a Comedy and Best Supporting
Actress, and the Ambie Award for Best Actress in a Drama. A Texas
native and recent New Orleans refugee, Leah now lives in NYC.
